Color is everywhere — in nature, art, design, and even in our emotions. But what exactly is color? And how do we classify its different types?
Let’s break it down in a simple way!
Color is the visual effect that is caused by the way our eyes and brain interpret light waves. In design and art, color is used to create mood, attract attention, and communicate ideas.
Colors are based on the color wheel, which helps us understand how colors relate to each other.
These are the base colors that cannot be made by mixing other colors.
Red
Blue
Yellow
All other colors are made by mixing these.
These are made by mixing two primary colors.
Red + Yellow = Orange
Blue + Yellow = Green
Red + Blue = Purple
These are made by mixing a primary color with a secondary color.
Examples:
Red + Orange = Red-Orange
Blue + Green = Blue-Green
Yellow + Orange = Yellow-Orange
These colors don’t usually appear on the color wheel but are important in design.
